There are 3 basic rules when it comes to recycling:
- Always recycle bottles, cans, paper, and cardboard.
- Keep food and liquid out of your recycling bins!
- No loose plastic bags!
Yay! You’ve done your part and recycled, but what else can be recycled?
You guessed it- solar panels!
There are proper methods for recycling lead, silicon, glass, and copper which are the main components of a solar panel. Glass, which is a well-established recycling market, makes up 75% of the total weight of a solar panel. The varying parts can be recycled and reused in other products. Now, don’t stick your broken or outdated solar panels in your bin outside. There are several professionals who can properly dispose and recycle panels!
The current number of solar panels in the U.S. needing to be recycled totals the production price of 60 million panels needed!
