In 2024, renewable energy set new records by adding 49 GW of new capacity in the U.S., according to a report from the American Clean Power Association (ACP). This represented 93% of the nation's total new installed capacity.

Many countries are prioritizing solar renewable energy including Vietnam. Vietnam is updating its energy strategy to prioritize large solar farms over coal and natural gas.

Achieving energy independence in the U.S. involves eliminating reliance on imported energy, protecting critical infrastructure from physical and cyber threats, and shielding the power system from market volatility and political instability abroad. This goal requires creating more jobs in the power sector and related industries, such as manufacturing, and expanding the domestic energy supply chain to source critical materials and components locally.
